Noel Whelan raved about the talents of West Ham attacker Andriy Yarmolenko ahead of the Hammers facing Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the ex-Leeds United attacker suggested that Yarmolenko could terrorise the Toffees as he was a player that Everton will be looking to stop.
The 29-year-old spent 252 days on the sidelines with a knee injury during his 2018/19 campaign but has managed to regularly feature for Manuel Pellegrini’s side so far this season.
Whelan sang Yarmolenko’s praises over his red-hot start to the season as he has managed three goals in seven league outings so far and claimed that the winger was clearly enjoying being fit enough to feature.
“He is an exciting player, a creative player, he’s getting goals he seems like he is really enjoying being back out there for club and country and both are getting rewarded by him,” Whelan told Football Insider.
“I feel he will be one player who Everton will be looking to stop.”
Yarmolenko has only managed to complete 90 minutes on one occasion in the Premier League this season but is currently second in the club’s scoring charts behind Sebastien Haller.
The 29-year-old has averaged a goal every 153 minutes for the Hammers this season and notably stole the headlines for Ukraine recently as the winger scored the winning goal in their 2-1 victory over Portugal.
