Queens Park Rangers have emerged as favourites to sign former Chelsea defender Todd Kane on a free transfer, Football Insider understands.

Kane is available on a free transfer after seeing out his contract at Chelsea earlier this summer and as revealed by Football Insider has held talks with QPR, Middlesbrough and Wigan over a potential move.

A well-placed source at Loftus Road has told Football Insider that QPR are leading the chase for Kane with the defender having been impressed in a meeting with Rs boss Mark Warburton.


QPR are looking to bring in a new right-back before the close of the transfer window after selling Darnell Furlong to Championship rivals West Bromwich Albion earlier this month.

Kane impressed last season on loan at Hull, making 41 appearances in all competitions and QPR are ready to offer him a deal at Loftus Road.


The 25-year-old’s versatility in that he can right-back, right wing-back as well as left-back and in midfield means he will add depth to Warburton’s squad ahead of the new Championship season.

In other QPR news, it can be REVEALED that the club are plotting a move to sign a giant from Nottingham Forest.
