Exclusive: QPR and Preston in hunt to sign Salford attacker, may be available for cut-price

Championship duo Preston and QPR are plotting moves to sign Salford attacker Brandon Thomas-Asante in January, Football Insider understands.

The versatile winger has been earning rave reviews for the League Two outfit since joining the Ammies in September on a free transfer from Ebbsfleet United.

Sources at both Preston and QPR have told Football Insider that the 21-year-old forward features high on their wanted lists as they look to strengthen their attacking options in the January transfer window.

The winger has made 10 appearances across all competitions for Salford and scored his first goal for the club in the 3-1 win over Crewe Alexandra on Boxing Day.

Scouts from clubs higher up the football pyramid have been alerted to Thomas-Asante’s impressive form and clubs from League One and the Championship have been making checks on him this season.

The former MK Dons youngster is out of contract at Salford next summer and his suitors know they could potentially land the versatile attacker for a cut-price fee next month.

QPR sit 14th in the Championship ahead of their clash with Hull City on Sunday, while Preston are among the play-off spots in sixth after 24 games.
