Rangers are ready to lodge a bid for Tottenham defender Jaden Brown in a bid to beat Newcastle United and Huddersfield to his signature, Football Insider sources understands.

The Scottish giants have expressed an interest in taking the England youth international to Scotland, but now face competition from the two Premier League clubs ahead of the January window.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Brown could be tempted to leave Tottenham in search of regular first-team football at this stage of his career and that he is keen to move to Ibrox.

The 19-year-old has been unable to break into the Spurs first-team with the likes Ben Davies, Danny Rose and Kyle Walker-Peters all ahead of him in the pecking order in Mauricio Pochettino's squad.

Brown is out of contract at Tottenham next summer and with the player unlikely to be offered a new deal Spurs could decide to sell him in the January transfer window.

Huddersfield, Newcastle and Rangers have been tracking Brown for some time and they are ready to firm up their interest with offers in the New Year.

The talented defender has come up through the ranks at Tottenham and has represented England at Under-16, Under-17, Under-18 and Under-19 levels.
