Paul Robinson revealed he was baffled by Jose Mourinho’s treatment of Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the former Spurs No.1 admitted he was very surprised that Winks kept finding himself on the bench.
The 23-year-old midfielder has only played a total of 72 minutes across his last three league outings.
Robinson revealed that he thought Winks offered more than every other Spurs midfielder currently on the books at the club.
“I’m still surprised that Harry Winks is being left out in favour of Eric Dier and Sissko,” Robinson told Football Insider.
“I think he offers more than every other Spurs midfielder at the moment.
“So I’m very surprised he keeps starting on the bench.”
The England international has featured a total of 18 times this season across all competitions and is yet to register a goal or an assist, with him often featuring as a midfield enforcer.
Winks managed to feature 41 times for Spurs in his 2018/19 campaign under Mauricio Pochettino and potentially would have featured more if he had not ended up needing groin surgery at the tail-end of the season.
The 23-year-old has been with the North London club for the entirety of his career, with him rising through the club’s academy to end up making 120 appearances for the first-team.
Winks’ current Tottenham contract still has plenty of time left to run on it, with it not expiring until 2024.
