Exclusive: Salford in advanced talks to sign Fleetwood attacker on loan
Salford City are set to sign Fleetwood Town winger Ashley Hunter on loan until the end of the season,Football Insider understands.
The 24-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at the League One outfit this season, starting just one league game under manager Joey Barton.
A source at Fleetwood has told Football Insider that the Cod Army are willing to let the wide man leave Highbury on a temporary basis and that talks are advanced over him joining Salford until the end of the season.
The winger has been used primarily as a substitute in the league by Barton this term, although he has started games in the EFL Trophy and League Cup.
A versatile forward who can play on either flank or through the middle as a centre forward, Hunter spent time in the youth systems of Derby County, Barnsley and Burton Albion, eventually joining Fleetwood in 2015 from non-league side Ilkeston.
He has been a regular feature for the Cod Army during their time in the third tier, racking up 215 appearances across all competitions.

However he has missed out on the club’s last five matchday squads, Barton preferring to use the likes of Wes Burns, Josh Morris, Paddy Madden and Ched Evans in attack as they hover just outside the play-off spots.
Salford meanwhile are sitting comfortably in mid-table during their first season of league football, manager Graham Alexander looking to bolster his squad with experience for the second half of the season.
