Norwich and Sheffield United are interested in signing Watford midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah on loan, Football Insider understands.

Premier League new boys Norwich and Sheffield United are keen to strengthen their squads before Thursday's transfer deadline and have lined up Chalobah as a top target.

Chalobah has been at Watford for two years since signing from Chelsea for a fee of over £5million.

The midfielder endured a frustrating season at Watford last term after battling back from a serious knee injury that ruled him out for almost the whole of the 2017/18 campaign.

The 24-year-old made just 13 appearances in all competitions for Watford last season with the likes of Abdoulaye Doucoure and Etienne Capoue ahead of him in the pecking order at Vicarage Road.

Now a Watford source has told Football Insider that he has attracted the attention of the Premier League's new boys.

Norwich and Sheffield United are now hoping to persuade Watford to loan out Chalobah with the offer of regular first-team football so that he can regain match fitness after his long-term injury.
