Exclusive: Shrewsbury in advanced talks to sign Davis after Birmingham City exit
Shrewsbury Town are in advanced talks to sign midfielder David Davis after his Birmingham City exit, Football Insider can reveal.
This comes after the 29-year-old quit St Andrew’s earlier this week after six-and-a-half years with the club.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider the League One club have swooped to sign Davis on a free transfer.
📝 David Davis has left #BCFC after six-and-a-half years at the Club. @Diggad1991 has been a fantastic servant to Blues and we thank him for his efforts during his time with us and wish him every success in the future.

Davis enjoyed a loan spell at New Meadow in 2011 and played under current Shrewsbury boss Steve Cotterill at Birmingham City.
The Black Country-born ace played almost 200 times for Birmingham in his extended spell with the club.
He scored vital goals in big derbies against both Wolves and Aston Villa but has fallen down the pecking order.

The midfielder has not played for the Blues since January 2019 and has made a matchday squad just once this season.
With his game time limited in the last campaign, he joined Charlton Athletic on loan but the temporary deal was not extended when the season resumed in June.
He now could be set to rejoin Shrewsbury after enjoying a loan spell there almost a decade ago.
Davis played 21 times for the Shrews who were then in League Two including both legs of their play-off semi-final defeat to Torquay United.
Shrewsbury are now in League One and managed by Cotterill who was in charge at St. Andrew’s for just over five months.
He took over at New Meadow in November and the club have not lost a league game since.
In other news, Football Insider can reveal Shrewsbury’s League One rivals Burton Albion are set to finalise the capture of a Wycombe forward.
