Exclusive: Southampton set to terminate international colossus' deal

Southampton defender Kevin Danso is set to quit the club and move elsewhere, Football Insider can reveal.

The Austrian colossus, 21, joined the Saints on a season-long loan from Bundesliga side FC Augsburg just before the close of the summer transfer window.

A Southampton source has told Football Insider that the club are ready to terminate Danso’s loan spell early and allow him to find a new team.

A number of clubs in France and Germany are understood to be exploring the idea of taking Danso on loan for the rest of the season once he leaves St Mary’s Stadium.

Ralph Hasenhüttl has previously admitted the six-times Austria international was struggling to come to terms with the pace of the Premier League.

The 6ft 3in colossus has been unable to play in his preferred centre-back position and has been used mainly as a right-back when called upon by Hasenhüttl.

The loan signing of Kyle Walker-Peters from Tottenham, which was announced yesterday, has increased competition for places in the Southampton defence.

The club are willing to accommodate Danso’s wishes and allow him to end his loan spell and move elsewhere.

Despite his pedigree and impressive reputation, he has struggled to hold down a regular spot in the Southampton side since his arrival.

The versatile operator has made just six appearances in the Premier League with another four coming in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

In other Southampton news, it can be REVEALED that the club are working on a deal to land wide man from London club with £7million bid.
