Rangers have turned down a bid from Sheffield United for Josh Windass, Football Insider sources understand.
Windass’ is the subject of interest from a number of clubs during the transfer window with Preston North End and Wigan Athletic both seeing offers for the forward rejected by Rangers.
Sheffield United have now joined the chase for the 23-year-old as Chris Wilder looks to bolster his side’s attacking options at Bramall Lane.
A well-placed source has now informed Football Insider that Sheffield firmed up their interest for Windass with a bid in the region of £500,000 which was flatly rejected by Rangers with the Scottish giants keen to keep the player at Ibrox.
Windass has developed into a key player for manager Graeme Murty after previously struggling to hold down a regular place in the starting XI under former manager Pedro Caixinha.
Windass joined Rangers on a four-year deal from Accrington Stanley in 2016 and has since gone on to make over 50 appearances for the club.
In other Rangers transfer news, six players may exit Ibrox this month in a January exodus that leaves just a handful of Pedro Caixinha’s signings left.
