Tottenham are in daily contact with Jonathan David's camp as they plot a summer bid for the forward, sources have told Football Insider.

Interest in the 24-year-old is high, with fellow Premier League clubs Chelsea and West Ham keen on bringing David to England.

Spurs will have to beat clubs in Europe as well, with Italian giants Romathe latest club to declare an interest in the Lille man.

Lille president Olivier Létang has admitted that the forward is likely to leave this summer.

With just one year left on his contract, sources say that the Ligue 1 side would be willing to accept a fee of £25million for the striker.

Tottenham see David as perfect number nine fit

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglu is said to be "obsessed" with signing a number nine this season with current striker Richarlison only scoring 11 goals in 28 Premier League appearances last campaign.

David has been prolific for Lille since joining the club from Belgian side Gent in 2020, amassing an impressive 84-goal tally in 183 appearances for the club.

With Chelsea and West Ham also lacking firepower up top, Spurs will have to move quickly to secure their number-one striker target.

The Canadian played an integral role in his country's Copa America campaign, scoring twice helping Canada reach the semi-finals before being knocked out by Lionel Messi's Argentina.
