Tottenham keep tabs on Camacho after Liverpool sale

Tottenham are among a number of Premier League clubs keeping close tabs on Sporting Lisbon attacker Rafael Camacho, Football Insider understands.

The versatile Portugese attacker, 19, quit Liverpool in a deal rising to £7million last summer after snubbing a five-year contract offer from the club.

A Spurs source has told Football Insider that the club are closely monitoring Camacho amid indications he may be interested in a swift return to the Premier League.

He signed a five-year contract with Sporting after his contract with Liverpool expired at the end of last season.

Football Insider that the teenager had knocked back a long-term deal from the Champions League holders as he wanted immediate first-team football.

The Portugal Under-20 international has been a standout performer for Sporting in recent weeks, starting their last four games in all competitions.

The attacker shone in the recent defeat to league leaders Benfica and Tottenham are believed to have been among the top clubs across Europe who dispatched scouts to the fixture.

Camacho took the unusual step last year of expressing his unhappiness on social media at playing right-back in his two senior Liverpool appearances.

He scored and created goals prolifically at youth-team level for Liverpool, netting 12 times and providing eights assists from 20 appearances in 2018-19.

At Sporting, he has made three league starts among 19 appearances in all competitions, scoring once and supplying an assist.
