Vitesse Arnhem and FC Utrecht are in talks to sign Ravel Morrison following his release from Sheffield United, Football Insider understands.
Morrison joined the Blades on a one-year deal in a free transfer last summer but struggled for game time and made just one substitute appearance in the Premier League before he joined Middlesbrough on loan in January.
Now a free agent, a recruitment source has told Football Insider that 27-year-old is in discussions with the two Dutch outfits while Turkish and English clubs are also interested in his capture.
When the 27-year-old joined the Blades manager Chris Wilder said a fully firing Morrison was a “£40m, £50m, £60m player”.
However, he joined Championship club Boro on loan for the second half of last season, where he featured in just three league games, as Neil Warnock’s men narrowly avoided relegation.
FC Utrecht and Vitesse Arnhem were level on points in sixth and seventh place in last season’s Eredivisie before the season was declared null and void due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Both sides had amassed 41 points, just three points less than Willem II in the final European place, but Vitesse had played a game more than FC Utrecht.
Vitesse have a rich recent history of signing English players with Mason Mount, Fikayo Tomori and Dominic Solanke all having spent time on loan at the club from Chelsea.
In other Sheffield United news, Danny Mills has tipped there to be more swap deals as the Blades close in on a deal with West Brom.
