Championship new boys Sheffield United have launched an ambitious bid for Wolves captain Conor Coady, Football Insider sources understand.
Coady has established himself as a key member of the Wolves side since joining them from Huddersfield Town for £2.5million in 2015.
The 24-year-old has made over 80 appearances for Wolves in his two seasons at Molineux and captained Wolves in their opening Championship game of this season against Middlesbrough.
He has featured in central midfield, right back and is now playing at centre back in Wolves’ new 3-4-3 system.
Coady is a fans’ favourite at Sheffield United after enjoying a successful spell on loan at Bramall Lane from Liverpool during the 2013/14 season, in which he played a starring role in leading them to their FA Cup semi-final against Hull City.
Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder is a big admirer of Coady and sees him as being a key addition to his plans going forward at Bramall Lane.
Coady’s versatility in that he can play in midfield and defence makes him an attractive proposition to a number of clubs and another Championship club are waiting in the wings to rival Sheffield United for the former Liverpool’s youngster’s signature.
In other Wolves transfer news, the club are second-favourites to sign this top-flight goal scorer.
