Expert can't believe Tottenham could now sign Richarlison replacement as mission reported

Kevin Campbell has claimed Marcus Thuram would not get in the Tottenham side if they completed a January deal for the red-hot forward.

The former Arsenal striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the summer signing of Richarlison, 25, means Spurs have ample cover in attack despite a recent plague of injuries.

According to 90min (14 November), Tottenham had officials in attendance to watch Bundesliga forward duo Yousoufa Moukoko, 17, and Thuram, 25, last week.

Thuram is out of contract at the end of the season and can negotiate a pre-contract agreement with Premier League sides from 1 January.

The France international, who will play at this month’s World Cup, has scored 13 goals in 17 appearances this season.

Tottenham have suffered in recent weeks as a result of injuries to forwards Richarlison, Heung-min Son, and Dejan Kulusevski.

Nevertheless, Campbell suggested another Premier League side will be looking to make Thuram their “main man” in January.

He told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “There’ll be a lot of clubs looking at him.

“Spurs are looking at bringing in some cover, but if you go out and get Thuram – what’s the point of signing Richarlison?

“He can play through the middle, and out wide.

“Who does Thuram come in for? Where does he play?

“To go out and sign him, I can’t see it. I think someone will come in for him in the Premier League and make him their main man.”

Tottenham sit fourth in the Premier League heading into the mid-season World Cup break.

They face a two-legged Champions League tie against AC Milan in February.
