Sources: Tottenham expected to release Dante Cassanova after U-turn
Tottenham are expected to tell rising star Dante Cassanova he’s free to find a new club, sources have told Football Insider.
The midfielder, 18, secured a third-year scholarship with the London giants when his original two-year deal expired during the summer.
Tottenham had planned to let the youngster go but felt he deserved another 12 months to prove himself after being plagued by injuries last season.
However, Cassanova is now injured again and the indications are that he will be released when his current deal expires.
Cassanova, a defensive midfielder who can also play at right-back, had a spell on trial at relegated Championship club Derby County last season.
He first turned out for the Rams on 22 January in an Under 18s game against Leeds United.

His attempts to find a new club were due, in part, to then-15-year-old Samuel Amo-Ameyaw moving ahead of him in the pecking order at Hotspur Way.
However, Amo-Ameyaw joined Southampton at the end of last season, giving Cassanova a chance to regain his place.
The versatile youngster made 16 appearances for Spurs Under-18s last season, starting 15 of those games.
As per Tottenham’s official site, Cassanova made his debut for the Under 18s in January 2020, while still a schoolboy.
Spurs’ Under 18s side will continue to play football throughout the World Cup break.
The side, who side sit sixth in the Under 18 Premier League South, are next in action against Chelsea’s Under 18s on Saturday (19 November),
