Sources: Tottenham expect to complete Tanguy Ndombele transfer after £30m reveal

Tottenham expect to complete the permanent transfer of Tanguy Ndombele next year, sources have told Football Insider.

The France international, 25, was frozen out at Spurs before joining Napoli on loan for the 2022-23 season.

He is not part of the long-term planning at his parent club even though he has two-and-a-half years remaining on a £200,000-a-week contract with them running until the summer of 2025.

It is believed, a Spurs source has told Football Insider, that there is a £30m buy option in the Napoli loan deal that is triggered if they secure Champions League qualification for next season.

The Serie A club are well placed to do so after an excellent start to the campaign.

They are top of the league, eight points clear of second-placed AC Milan, and topped a Champions League group that included last season’s finalists Liverpool on the back of five straight wins.

Tottenham are increasingly hopeful they can agree the permanent transfer of Ndombele next year, although a January transfer is seen as unlikely at this stage.

Ndombele has now made 18 appearances for Napoli in all competitions, accumulating 735 minutes of action in total.

That includes six Serie A starts and two starts in the Champions League, including in the last two matches in that competition against Liverpool and Rangers.

Ndombele was a bit-part player for Tottenham during the 2021-22 campaign after failing to live up to expectations during his first seasons at the club.

He played just seven times under Antonio Conte before being shipped out on loan to Lyon in January for the second half of last season.
