Expert issues 'big' Spurs claim after what he's spotted - 'Tottenham have never done this...'

Tottenham are moving closer to the top teams in world football after development that the club has never seen before.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Tottenham have a wealth of talent in midfield following the arrivals of Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma in the last two transfer windows.

They joined Oliver Skipp and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg as options in Antonio Conte’s two-man midfield.

Wenham insists this strength in depth is something Tottenham have never had before and is a sign of the club’s progress under Conte.

“That’s how it has to be, this is what big clubs do and we are trying to be right up there,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Historically, Tottenham have never done this. We made six first-team signings for this season excluding Destiny Udogie.

“Other than Fraser Forster, I expect the other five to be contributing heavily to the squad over the course of the season.

Other than Spence, the other four are all contributing already. Richarlison has started a lot of games, Perisic and Lenglet are in there as well.

“Bissouma is more involved at the moment. I think the first choice pairing in the midfield for Conte is Bentancur and Hojbjerg.

“You just have to look at minutes played to know that.”

Bentancur scored his first goal for Spurs in the 6-2 win over Leicester City on 17 September.

Tottenham are next in action against Arsenal on 1 October.
