Danny Mills has been left raving over the “infectious” attitude of Leeds United star Ezgjan Alisoki after the Macedonian’s 100th appearance for the Whites against Derby County.
The former Leeds and England full-back, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, says that the 27-year-old has done impressively during his conversion from winger to defender and that his work ethic down the left is commendable.
Saturday saw the former FC Lugano man seal a century of appearances for the Elland Road outfit, playing the full 90 minutes in the 1-1 draw with Derby.
Mills says that not only is Alisoki a good player with a desire to succeed but his positive attitude rubs off on the players and the fans in the right way.
Mills told Football Insider: “He’s had his ups and his downs, he’s had great performances and some not so good ones. He’s grown into that role where people go: ‘Yeah, okay.’
“He’s proved himself that he’ll work hard, get stuck in for the team, work hard for the team in whatever position that is. You need players like that, credit to himself he’s not sulked, he’s worked hard. All credit to him I think.
“He seems to enjoy himself, enjoy playing football, enjoy what he does which is fabulous. When you’ve got characters that work hard, get on with it and do it with a smile on their face, it becomes infectious, especially with the crowd and the fans. It’s all you could ever ask for.”
Alioski has netted 15 goals and chalked up a further 11 assists for Leeds during 100 games for the club and has been a mainstay in the side this season.
He has missed just one game in the Championship during the current campaign, Barry Douglas taking his spot on the left-hand side of the defence against Wigan, with five of those coming in the starting XI.
In other Leeds United news, Danny Mills has torn into one senior player that “doesn’t look sharp” this season.
