Fans react on Twitter after BBC asks if only Liverpool can stop Chelsea

By Emma Sanders

Fans have been discussing on Twitter whether Liverpool are the only team who are capable of preventing Chelsea from winning the Premier League title.

BBC Sport asked fans to comment on whether the Premier League title had become a two-horse race and there were plenty of mixed opinions – as you might expect from such a loaded question.

The two teams are currently top and second, but there’s plenty of time to go in what is shaping up to be a classic Premier League race.

Here is a selection of the messages from fans on Twitter:

One fan talked about a Liverpool slip coming soon and that happened on Monday when the Reds surrendered a lead twice to draw 2-2 with struggling Sunderland.

With 44 points they’ve closed the gap to five on Chelsea, but the Blues have a game in hand – although an away trip to Tottenham is far from easy.

Liverpool and Chelsea are also set to meet at the end of the month in another blockbuster fixture that could have a huge bearing on the top of the table.

Manchester City are third with 42 points after beating Burnley 2-1 and Arsenal trail with 40 points, although they too have a game in hand against Bournemouth on Tuesday.
