Arsenal fans are cautiously optimistic about Arsenal’s transfer window after it was reported that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s dad had flown into London to help finalise the Dortmund striker’s £53m move to Arsenal.
Bild reported earlier on Wednesday that the Aubameyang’s father and agent had jetted into north London ahead of a move reported to be worth £53m.
Arsenal are at the centre of a number of big deals after it was reported that Alexis Sanchez had agreed terms with Manchester United ahead of a move to Old Trafford.
The Telegraph reported that Sanchez was on the brink of a four-and-a-half year deal that would be worth a total of £180m.
That would leave Wenger free to sign a replacement and Aubameyang is one of his top targets.
The Dortmund striker is said to have fallen out with his club after a disciplinary issue and wants a move to Arsenal.
However, Arsenal fans have been here before and are refusing to get too excited.
They agree that if the Dortmund striker signed, it would be a great transfer window for Arsenal, especially as Sanchez hasn’t been performing in the first half of the season.
Here is a selection of the best tweets from expectant Arsenal fans:
With Walcott gone and Sanchez going, I have this horrible feeling inside that we'll only get Mkhitaryan in. Malcom gone quiet and Aubameyang taking suspiciously long.
If that is the case, then we've made £37m profit this window. Where is it going?
I hope I'm wrong.

The way to look at it is that Aubameyang is Alexis replacement and Mhikitaryn is Theo’s replacement . When you look of it that way we are coming off better this window #afc

Aubameyang, Malcom + Mkhitaryan is a fair upgrade on Alexis and Walcott, who are both undeniably great. If we can pull of those transfers, can we consider it a good window? #AFC

You'd have to say, that replacing Walcott and Sanchez with Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan would be just about the best case scenario you could have hoped for. Goodness knows how P-EA plays alongside Lacazette though.

If arsenal offload Alexis now and bring in Aubameyang and Mkhi it would be a true delight in my eyes. Upgrade for sure.

Yeah, I’m the same mate. Lacazette is good but Aubameyang is a notch above.

A great read about Aubameyang and how incredibly fortunate Arsenal are that he – a world class striker- is available right now, especially with Alexis leaving.https://t.co/xmoDRyIPm9

oh god.. can you actually imagine if we signed Aubameyang..? The guy is amazing!

Not sleeping off twitter till Aubameyang signs!

So Aubameyang's dad is in London, Mkhi is close to being done and Malcom is all dependent on Walcott leaving (acc. to BBC). No way we get all 3, right?

In other Arsenal transfer news, it has been reported that a swap deal with Manchester United has stalled because of the wage demands involved.
