Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen is all smiles after Enzo Maresca confirmed he has replaced Robert Sanchez as their number one.

The 22-year-old is set to take over from error-prone Robert Sanchez, 27, for the foreseeable future after Enzo Maresca admitted the Spaniard needed "time to recover mentally and physically."

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Chelsea's Premier League game with Brighton, Maresca said: "I said that the Filip solution (against West Ham) was also to give Robert some time to recover mentally and physically.

"The idea is not to game by game change the keeper. In this moment, the last Premier League game against West Ham that we won was Filip... the FA Cup game was Robert, but our keeper in this moment is Filip."

Maresca's decision to drop Sanchez will likely be music to the ears of Chelsea fans who have seemingly lost faith in the 'keeper, with many demanding the club sell him.

The former Brighton shot-stopper has struggled this season, starting all 22 of his games across all competitions, conceding 29 goals, and keeping just four clean sheets in his 1980 minutes of action.

Sanchez is the most mistake-prone goalkeeper in the league, making five errors that directly led to opposition goals, tied with Ipswich Town's Arijanet Muric.

Jorgensen, on the other hand, has impressed in the limited chances he's been given, starting all 14 of his games across all competitions, conceding 13 goals, and keeping five clean sheets, none of which have come in the Premier League, in his 1260 minutes on the field.

The Denmark under-21s international took to Instagram to share an image of himself from their most recent training session, seemingly all smiles after Maresca's decision.
