Aston Villa star Jordan Ayew has given Turkish club Galatasaray the green light to sign him, according to a report.

Football Insider reported on Tuesday that Ayew's agent had offered his client to the Turkish side as he did not want to play in English football's second tier.

Turkish sport website Fotospor now claim the African striker has asked the club to buy him and that, in turn, they are lining up a bid.

The former Lorient striker, who can also play on either wing, scored seven goals in his first season in England, but could not stop Villa nosediving into the Championship.

It is reported that the striker has told his agent to look for another club and that Galatasaray has been informed the player is happy to move to Turkey.

The end of this month will mark a year since Villa forked out £9million on Ayew, who is just 12 months into the four-year deal he signed last July.

Ayew went on to be Villa's top scorer in the 2015-16 season and returned to training with the first-team this week.

Villa begin their Championship campaign against Sheffield Wednesday on 7 August hoping their stay in the second division will be a short one.

Despite his hopes of leaving the club, Fotospor report saying he is still a Villa player and the future is unclear.

"The manager does not tell me anything but I am still a Villa player. God knows what will happen in the future," Ayew said.
