Danny Rose wants the full value of his Tottenham contract paid off if he is to quit the club early, Football Insider understands.

Spurs could not offload the left-back, 30, before the window shut on 16 October after a late move for him to join Watford failed to get off the ground.

As revealed by this site, the Londoners are subsequently trying to sort out an agreement to end Rose's contract early.

A Tottenham source has told Football Insider that Rose is set to resist a payout on reduced terms.

He wants the full £2.5million-plus remaining on his deal, which runs until June of next year.

The England international has been frozen out at Spurs and his status was further emphasised when he was omitted from their 25-man Premier League squad announced last week.

There appears no way back at the club he joined from Leeds United in his mid-teens following the £28million signing of Sergio Reguilon, who has slotted into the left-back spot with aplomb.

But Rose has found his options of a new club dramatically reduce over the last 12 to 18 months.

There interest in him in the summer of 2019 from elite clubs was far less than he had hoped even though Spurs gave him the green light to move.

Newcastle cooled their interest in re-signing Rose earlier in the summer after he spent the second half of last season on loan at the club.

Rose could now look to sit out the remaining eight months of his contract and then leave Tottenham next summer.

He would likely have more options as a free agent, although hopes of securing a deal on the same terms as his Spurs deal appear to be remote.
