Everton fans have been reacting on Twitter to the performance of Davy Klaassen after he was axed from the senior squad and sent to play for the Under-23s side on Monday night.

Klaassen, 25, has not made an appearance in the senior side since December having been constantly overlooked by manager Sam Allardyce despite him costing the club £23.6million in the summer when he signed from Ajax.

The Netherlands international has barely kicked a ball all season after being cut from the senior squad almost instantly, and perhaps unfairly with just three Premier League starts to his name.

However the ex-Ajax star was in good form against Swansea in Premier League 2 on Monday night before he was subbed off in the 70th minute.

Everton fans were happy to see the outcast do well, with one saying it's a "disgrace" that he has not had more chances to improve his match fitness before now.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

Klaaseen has made just 13 appearances in all competitions for Everton with more than half of them coming in the Europa League.

He has played just four times in the Premier League and has not been selected by any of Ronald Koeman, Unsworth or Sam Allardyce to play in the top-flight since September.

The Dutch playmaker clearly has talent, but it seems that he has a long way to go to prove that he can play for the Blues first-team once again.
