Everton should not sell Yerry Mina and should instead hand him a new contract at Goodison Park, according to Paul Robinson.

The former Spurs and England number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, warned the Toffees it would cost "a significant fee" to replace the 27-year-old this summer.

Mina has little over 12 months remaining on his contract on Merseyside.

According to ExWHUemployee (10 June), Everton are willing to listen to offers for the Colombia international.

The club are said to be holding out for a fee of around £15million.

When asked by Football Insider if it would be a mistake to let the centre-half leave in the summer window, Robinson said: "Everton have to be careful with what they do.

"They haven't got a lot of wiggle room financially. They're not in a great position with Financial Fair Play.

"Mina is a player that I rate very highly. Yes, he has had his injury problems but he is still a top player.

"To replace a player of that quality you would have to spend a significant fee. How much money do Everton really have to work with this summer?

"If it was me I would extend his contract. I think he's a good player."

Mina has struggled with injury since arriving to Goodison Park and that was the case once again in the 2021-22 campaign.

He made 14 appearances across all competitions.
