Norwich City have entered the race to sign Chelsea goalscoring midfielder Kasey Palmer, Football Insider can reveal.

The 22-year-old was close to rejoining Bristol City on a permanent deal this summer but the deal stalled even though manager wants him back after a successful loan stint at Ashton Gate last term.

A Chelsea source has told Football Insider that Norwich boss Daniel Farke is plotting a move to land England Under-21 international Palmer and his club have made an approach.

The Europa League holders want £4million for the London-born midfielder ,who has another two years to run on his current contract.

Premier League new boys Norwich are looking to bolster their midfield options and regard Palmer as a potential high quality and good value recruit.

The Canaries have been monitoring Palmer ,who has impressed in both of the Blues’ pre-season games in Ireland, and have registered their interest in signing him in the next three weeks.

Tellingly, he was not one of the eight players sent back to West London ahead of potential loan moves before next month’s deadline.

Norwich will need to beat multiple clubs across England if they are to land Palmer, who has scored regularly during various Championship loans, as well as for England age-group sides and Chelsea Under-23s.
