Juan Foyth has played his last game for Tottenham after a season on loan at Villarreal.

That's the opinion of former Spurs stopper Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Foyth's future.

Earlier this month, (April 5) this site revealed that Villarreal are hoping to sign Juan Foyth permanently from Tottenham this summer.

Foyth, 23, joined Villarreal on loan last summer and the option to sign the player for £13million was written into the contract.

A Spanish source has told Football Insider that Villarreal are working to sign Foyth for considerably less than that £13million fee with the player keen on the move.

Robinson claims Foyth will leave the club even if a new manager is appointed in the near future but wishes he'd been given more of a chance at Tottenham.

"I was a fan a Foyth replacing Serge Aurier when he was given that chance," Robinson told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs.

"He was given his opportunity in the Champions League but it wasn't backed up, he wasn't given any more game time.

"Whoever comes in now, in the summer, it won't be Ryan Mason. It'll be a top-class manager and they have to assess the squad.

"It's unfair to talk about a player's future before you know who the manager is but I think Foyth has been even further than the periphery of that team, so I think he will move on."

Foyth has made 30 appearances for Villarreal in all competitions this season playing at both centre back and right back.

Mauricio Pochettino once heaped praise on Foyth after a win over Crystal Palace as he told BT Sport, “It’s fantastic for Foyth. His performance today was fantastic. He played so well. He needs to learn and keep improving but he is a very good prospect for us.”
