Paul Robinson has urged Chelsea not to cash in on Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-England number one said the Blues should avoid taking "huge losses" on the duo as they both "can still offer something" to the club.

Werner and Lukaku have both endured a difficult time at Stamford Bridge since big-money moves in 2020 and 2021 respectively.

Chelsea

A report in the Mirror (5 June), using CIES, has suggested Chelsea could generate £102.9million from the sales of the two forwards in the upcoming window.

That figure would represent a loss £42million for the London club.

When asked by Football Insider if Thomas Tuchel's side should cut their losses and reinvest, Robinson said: "I think both improved at the end of the season.

"Lukaku was not the same player over the festive period but we started to see him regain some form at the end of the season. I think Leeds away was a real turning point for him. Before the FA Cup final he played outstanding well.

"He has not done enough to warrant his price tag but he is still a top-class striker. I would give him another season.

Chelsea

"I tipped Chelsea for a title challenge last season. That is how much of an impact I expected Lukaku to have. His attitude and application is not always where it should be though.

"If Chelsea sold Lukaku and Werner they would be taking huge losses on both. I still think they can offer something for Chelsea."
