Pundit Exclusive: Celtic backed to beat Rangers to pre-contract signing after Warburton reveal

Celtic and West Ham legend Frank McAvennie joined the Football Insider stable in June 2020 and has not disappointed with his own brand of unique punditry. He loves talking football almost as much as he loved scoring goals, and still has close links in the dressing room at Parkhead.

Celtic should try and capitalise on Bright Osayi-Samuel's contract stalemate at QPR, according to Frank McAvennie.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, the Parkhead legend claimed James Forrest's absence through injury has "highlighted" the club's need for another winger.

Osayi-Samuel, 22, has just seven months left on his contract at Loftus Road and can sign a pre-contract with a foreign club when the transfer window re-opens on 1 January.

On Monday, QPR boss Mark Warburton told West London Sport that talks with Osayi-Samuel over a new deal had stalled to suggest the attacker is destined to leave the Championship club next summer.

When asked by Football Insider if the winger would be a welcome addition at Paradise, McAvennie said:

"Celtic's reliance on Forrest has been highlighted while he has been out injured.

Elyounoussi is hot and cold, a wonderful talent but it is not enough - one good game, three bad. To play at Celtic you need to be on that level constantly.

"I would go for Bright Osayi-Samuel if we can get him. There is nee point in bringing people in to make up the numbers.

"Whoever has been doing the recruitment at Celtic, it has been awful. Really awful. I do not know how is watching the players, picking the players but it has been awful."
