Alan Hutton has urged Rangers to launch a move to sign striker Lyndon Dykes from Livingston for £2million.

The former Gers defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, admits he has been mightily impressed by the Livi forward after giving the Light Blues and Celtic "nightmares" with his performances.

However, it is understood that Livingston have set a £2million asking price for their attacking talisman this summer.

Hutton believes that the seven-figure fee is "excellent value" after watching the Australia-born hitman establish himself as one of the top non-Old Firm players in the league.

Hutton told Football Insider: "I mean £2million for what he gives you I think is excellent value for money.

"This is the thing, do you go and spend £10million on a player who has done well in the past but you're not too sure or there's somebody that has been in the league a long time now, has given Rangers and Celtic all sorts of nightmares playing against them.

"I think he's a great option to have and one even if you did bring in big number nine for big money, he'd be another great option to have alongside as well."

Dykes scored 12 goals and contributed a further 10 assists across all competitions last season.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard currently has Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe as his two senior striking options at Ibrox.
