Kieran Maguire has claimed Aston Villa have "likely been haemorrhaging cash" after owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens invested more money into the club.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the football finance expert claimed the nature of the investment "is a positive one" as far as the club is concerned.

On 9 November, Maguire revealed via Twitter that NSWE UK Limited issued close to £40million worth of shares on 30 October.

It is the third time this calendar year that Villa's owners have injected capital into the club.

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of the latest development on the books, Maguire said: "Edens and Sawiris have put a further £40million into Aston Villa.

"This is in line with the ownership model that they have utilised since acquiring the club.

"The good news for Villa is that the club is not being pumped with debt, which always carries additional risk is repayment dates are missed or terms not complied with. The nature of the investment is a positive one.

"It is likely that Villa have been haemorrhaging cash to fund the growth of the club. I do not think there is any worry with this. I think it is a case of carrying on as we were before."
