Revealed: Leeds United pocket sensational £133m windfall
Leeds United have pocketed a stunning £133million broadcasting windfall from their first season back in the Premier League.
Leeds' revenues have rocketed this campaign after they last month announced a £62.4million loss for the 2019-20 financial year.
Key to the massive increase in turnover is the TV deal, which is worth at least £93m to every Premier League club.
Leeds' outstanding finish to the season secured a ninth-placed finish and a boost to their coffers, which were depleted by no fans at matches for most of the campaign.
Analysis from Football Insider shows that United's estimated broadcasting revenues amount to £133m.
This is made up of an equal share of £76m from domestic and overseas rights, £21m prize money for where they finished in the table, a £19m facility fee for their number of live matches and £17m overseas TV money.
The sum is £40m more than Premier League bottom club Sheffield United, although £34m less than champions Man City.
Nevertheless, Leeds' windfall demonstrates the immense value of being back in the Premier League after 16 years in the lower divisions.
United topped the Championship last season but their total revenue was just £54.2m.
They are likely to more than triple that for the current campaign given their broadcasting boost.
However, there is a price to be paid for the success of this season through bonuses to players and Marcelo Bielsa and his backroom staff.
