Sources: Leeds confident of signing Perraud after 'encouraging talks'

Leeds United are confident of signing Stade Brest defender Romain Perraud this summer, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

It comes after the Whites made the 23-year-old their top left-back target following meetings between the club’s owners, sporting director Victor Orta and manager Marcelo Bielsa.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Leeds are expecting to seal a deal for the French full-back when the transfer window opens after “encouraging talks”.

Perraud enjoyed an exceptional campaign in Ligue 1 this year, with three goals and seven assists in 36 appearances for a Stade Brest side that narrowly avoided relegation.

He is under contract at the French club until the summer of 2025, having put pen to paper on a two-year contract extension in January.

Leeds have prioritised the signing of a new left-back in the upcoming transfer window with Ezgjan Alioski expected to depart at the end of his contract next month.

Bielsa was keen for the North Macedonia international to extend his stay at Elland Road and a new contract offer has been on the table for months.

However, it is understood the wide-man has not accepted the offer and will likely leave as a free agent.

A new left-back is expected to be one of numerous additions to Marcelo Bielsa’s squad this summer.

Football Insider understands the club have set their sights on signing a new striker as well as cover for Kalvin Phillips before the start of the 2021-22 campaign.

In other news, Leeds United are working on sealing multiple new contracts with talks to be finalised this week.
