Celtic may terminate Shane Duffy's loan spell at Parkhead in January after a difficult start to the 2020/21 campaign.

That is according to former Spurs and Leeds United goalkeeper Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs about the 28-year-old's lack of game time in Glasgow.

Duffy enjoyed a flying start to life in the Scottish Premiership with two goals in his first two appearances for the Hoops.

However, he has struggled since and has not started a match for Neil Lennon's side since the 4-1 Europa League loss at Sparta Prague on 5 November.

But Robinson now suspects the Glasgow giants will look to terminate the season-long loan agreement early.

"It is a really strange one," he told Football Insider.

"You do not sign a player of his quality unless you plan to use him but he has struggled this season.

"If he is not going to get any game time I could see the loan move coming to an end.

"He will not get back into the Brighton team though, otherwise he would not have left in the first place.

"Duffy is not in Brighton's plans and he is not a youngster so if the loan spell does end he will have to make another move in January."
