Burnley have agreed a £1.6million deal with Oxford United for defender Luke McNally, Football Insider understands.

The centre-back has attracted interest from multiple EFL clubs after an impressive 18 months at Oxford.

A Burnley source has told Football Insider that they are now close to signing McNally after having a bid in the region of £1.6m accepted.

The 22-year-old has two years remaining on his contract at the Kassam Stadium.

In the 2021-22 campaign, he made 30 League One appearances and score five goals.

McNally has been capped by the Republic of Ireland at youth level but is yet to get a call-up to the senior squad.

The Championship club are in the market for new centre-backs after losing Ben Mee and James Tarkowski.

New Clarets manager Vincent Kompany is in the market for multiple defenders to strengthen his squad ahead of the 2022-23 season.

Football Insider reported on Thursday (23 June) that the club have had a £2million bid for Arsenal centre-half Daniel Ballard accepted.

Burnley are also in advanced talks to sign Manchester City's 20-year-old defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis.

Furthermore, the recently relegated side are closing in on their first forward signing of the window.

As first revealed by Football Insider (24 June), they have agreed a £4million deal with MK Dons for Scott Twine.

The 22-year-old was the subject of interest from multiple EFL clubs, as well as Rangers, following an outstanding League One campaign.

In other news, a source has revealed that a Millwall player has told his friends that he is joining Rangers as six-figure deal agreed.
