Rangers may offload two senior defenders this summer to raise cash for reinforcements, Football Insider understands.

Sweden international Filip Helander is keen to have a crack at the Premier League and George Edmundson could make a full-time return to England.

Ibrox sources have told Football Insider that the club are in the market for a new centre-back in case they lose players in that position.

Rangers

The Swede, 28, has been linked with the likes of Aston Villa and Leicester City, and could draw strong interest if he shines at the European Championships.

He has made 31 appearances this season and has emerged as Connor Goldson's first choice centre-back partner.

Edmundson has been on loan at Championship outfit Derby County since January after being frozen out at his parent club.

He made just two appearances at Rangers in the first half of the campaign and was caught up in the first of the club's two Covid-related suspensions.

At Derby, Edmundson has played eight times, including starts in each of the last two Championship matches.

It is likely an offer of close to £1m will be enough to convince Rangers to sell up.

In addition to main man Goldson, the other senior centre-backs at the club January arrival Jack Simpson and Leon Balogun.
