Sheffield United have opened talks to sign Man United sensation Amad Diallo, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The Championship club are working on a deal for the winger, who turned 19 last month, before the window shuts in a fortnight's time.

A United source has told Football Insider that discussions are underway over a deal that would see Diallo join on a season-long loan.

The Premier League giants have given the green light for the Ivory Coast international to join a club on loan.

United are keen for Diallo to be playing for a side where he can expect regular first-team football.

That is likely to be denied him at Old Trafford this season following the £75million capture of Jadon Sancho during the summer.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has multiple other wide attacking options in his first-team squad including Daniel James, Mason Greenwood, Anthony Martial and Juan Mata as well as the injured Marcus Rashford.

James started in Diallo's preferred right-flank role in the 5-1 thrashing of Leeds United last Saturday, with Paul Pogba operating with huge success on the left.

Diallo joined Man United in January for a fee of up to £34million including performance-related add-ons.

He signed from Serie A club Atalanta on a deal until 2025 with the option of a further year.

Diallo was hailed for his "speed, vision and fantastic dribbling ability" by Solskjaer when he joined from Atalanta.

The United manager predicted he would had all the raw attributes to be "an important player for Manchester United in the years to come".
