Alan Hutton has claimed it will cost £10m-plus for Celtic to sign "unbelievable" Fraser Forster this summer.

The former Scotland international, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, insisted the goalkeeping department is an area Neil Lennon will have to address in the upcoming window.

The 32-year-old has hugely impressed whilst on a season-long loan from Southampton this season and Neil Lennon has made clear he would "love" to land him permanently.

Forster has kept 14 clean sheets in his 28 league appearances this season, lifting the Bhoys to within touching distance of a ninth consecutive title.

However, completing a permanent deal would likely come at a price, given the keeper still has two years remaining on his contract on the south coast.

The signing, therefore, has the potential to surpass the current transfer record at Parkhead of £9million - paid for Odsonne Edouard two years ago.

Asked by Football Insider if Neil Lennon would be priced out of a move for the shot-stopper, Hutton said: "It is going to be very difficult. We are talking about £10million, maybe more. We are talking about a guy in great form who is entering the peak of his career. He has done unbelievably well.

"I think the goalkeeping issue is a difficult one for Celtic. Craig Gordon is out of contract in the summer and for Forster to go back will be expensive, even the wages will be huge. They will have to sort it out in the summer."

Second choice goalkeeper Craig Gordon could also be set for a summer exit with his contract due to expire at the end of May.

That would leave Scott Bain as the only senior goalkeeper at Parkhead going into next season.
