League leaders plot swoop for Spurs passmaster as frustration grows over contract rebel - report

Tottenham midfielder Mousa Dembele has attracted the attention of Serie A league leader’s Juventus, according to a report.

The Evening Standard claims that with the Belgian’s future uncertain after comments he made previously, they are keeping an eye on the situation of the player who has a 92% pass completion rate.

They were hugely impressed with him over the Champions League encounter between the two sides and are getting increasingly frustrated at being unable to tie down a deal for Liverpool contract rebel Emre Can.

Dembele is out of contract in North London at the end of next season but has once again been one of the Lillywhites most important players of the campaign, and the club will undoubtedly be keen to extend his contract.

However, with the 30-year-old Belgian international wanting a three-year deal, it would appear the two parties have hit a stumbling block.

Having previously been described as a “genius” by Mauricio Pochettino, the club won’t let Dembele go without a fight. But at 30, Daniel Levy is notoriously tight with what he is prepared to offer players in terms of wages and length of them, and Dembele has hinted that a big transfer might tempt him. It would be a massive blow for the club if he does depart as he is a player who offers them a touch of class and guile in the centre of the park that is different from anything else around him – Spurs won’t be the prospect they are right now without him in the midfield.
