Frank Lampard makes surprise prediction for Tottenham clash v Real Madrid
By Danny Wright
Chelsea legend Frank Lampard surprisingly predicted that Tottenham will beat Real Madrid at Wembley when they meet in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
Spurs have lost back-to-back games going into their crucial clash with Los Blancos this week and are also sweating over the fitness of star striker Harry Kane, who is an injury doubt for the game.
Madrid are also widely seen as being the best team in the world and are strong 4/1 favourites with SkyBet to win the competition at the end of the season.
However that hasn’t stopped ex-Chelsea and England midfielder Lampard from giving his backing to his old rivals Tottenham for this week’s heavyweight clash.
“I fancy Tottenham to beat Real. I don’t think they have lost momentum since they last played them, despite their last two games ending in defeat. Pochettino changed the team against West Ham in the League Cup and we all know what he thinks about the competition,” he said on the Evening Standard website.

“At Manchester United they missed Kane through injury but it was just a late lapse that cost them.
“I still think they’re a force, defensively sound and move the ball well.”
Spurs are going into Wednesday’s game having lost to West Ham in the League Cup after squandering a two goal lead and a 1-0 loss to Manchester United on Saturday.
They did manage to hold Real Madrid to a draw at the Bernabeu earlier in October, but with them still looking quite jittery about playing at Wembley, it may actually be a harder task for them in home soil.
Tottenham and Real both sit level on points at the top of Group H and if there is a winner on Wednesday, that club will book their spot in the next round as long as Borussia Dortmund and APOEL Nicosia draw with one another.
In other Tottenham news, Spurs are plotting a January swoop for this Premier League flyer and Mauricio Pochettino is a big fan.
