'From what I've heard...' - Exclusive: McLeish raves as Spurs work on blockbuster contract
Alex McLeish has been left raving as Tottenham work on a new and improved contract for Heung-min Son.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Premier League manager insists that Spurs fans will be desperate to see the “wonderful” winger commit his future to the club.
Son’s current contract, which is set to run until 2023, is understood to be significantly lower than the likes of Harry Kane and Dele Alli and Spurs are wanting to reward the South Korea star for his importance to the side.
McLeish believes that the former Bayer Leverkusen forward has shown both his ability on the pitch as well as tremendous character in the dressing room and on the training ground.
McLeish told Football Insider: “Undoubtedly a wonderful player. He seems to be a lovely person as well, from what I’ve heard.

I think he’s one of those guys that’s very humble in the dressing room and you won’t have a lot of problems. Although I heard there was a wee bust-up a few weeks ago in the tunnel (with Hugo Lloris) – that seemed out of character.
“All my Spurs pals will be looking for Son to sign on the dotted line immediately.”
“Just to see some of the goals he has scored and his speed and movement, it’s tremendous, the goals against West Ham, his acceleration, his finish – brilliant.”
Son has made a blistering start to the new season with eight goals and four assists in seven appearances.
He has a total of 236 games and 93 goals under his belt for the Lilywhites.
