Danny Mills hailed the 'deserving' Michail Antonio after it was revealed that West Ham plan to offer the attacker a new contract.

The former England international, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, insisted that there are very few who work harder than the "very, very humble" 30-year-old.

Hammers boss David Moyes detailed in July that the club can trigger a one-year extension to the striker's current deal, which is due to expire next summer.

Antonio has started the 2020/21 campaign in fine form with two goals in his first four Premier League appearances, playing an integral part in emphatic wins over Wolves and Leicester City.

Mills heaped praise on the Englishman and claimed he is the epitome of hard work.

"A new and improved contract would definitely be deserved," he told Football Insider.

"You get rewarded for what you do and there are not many that work harder than Michail Antonio, so he deserves everything he gets.

"From where he has come from, to get where he is - amazing.

"He's very, very humble and possesses great ability.

"There is no success in anything without hard work. You have to work harder than everybody else to get to where you have got and he epitomises that. All credit to him."
