Ruben Amorim is the new favourite to be the next Fulham boss with a top UK bookmaker after Kieran McKenna was ruled out of the running.

Amorim has been out of work for over five months since he was sacked by Man United in early January after a tough 14-month tenure.

He was dismissed after winning just 25 of his 63 games in charge and criticising the club's hierarchy in a press conference.

The 41-year-old is yet to return to management but has been linked to several jobs either in the Premier League and abroad.

One of the UK's leading bookmakers has now slashed his odds so he is the new favourite to become Fulham's next manager after Marco Silva.

The Cottagers confirmed last week that Silva is set to leave his position in charge when his contract expires this summer.

He is set to become the new boss of Benfica, who were also linked with appointing Amorim before he ruled himself out of such a move.

Fulham have been expecting Silva's exit for several months after he stalled on signing a new contract throughout the season.

Numerous managers have been linked to Craven Cottage over the last week, with Ipswich boss McKenna believed to be the leading candidate to succeed Silva.

He was the clear favourite with the bookies before news emerged on Wednesday that he is set to step down as Ipswich boss and take time out of management for the foreseeable future.

McKenna's reasons are unclear as it stands, but Fulham will now have to focus on other options, such as Amorim.

The former United boss is now the favourite to be appointed by the Cottagers with two of the UK's top bookies, at odds of 2/1.

Who are the other candidates to take charge of Fulham next?

The leading bookmakers have installed Coventry boss Frank Lampard as the second-favourite to be the next Fulham manager, at 4/1 odds.

Sources have, however, previously told Football Insider that Coventry are confident of keeping Lampard ahead of their return to the top flight.

Former Liverpool manager Arne Slot, Bo Svensson, Edin Terzic and Jose Bordalas are also believed to be in contention, at odds of 15/2 respectively.
