The news that Celtic are close to agreeing a deal with PSG to sign Odsonne Edouard will have a knock-on effect at the strikers already at the club.
The Daily Mail is reporting that the Hoops are set to sign the 20-year-old for a fee of £5million, and when you spend that kind of money on a player you don’t expect him to be on the bench very often.
So where does that leave the Bhoys other two main strikers, Leigh Griffiths and Moussa Dembele?
Griffiths will be looking to get over his injury problems first and foremost, as a shin injury wrecked his season just as he looked to be becoming the main striker at the club, and it doesn’t look like he will be sold anytime soon, even if a good offer is made.
It’s a different story with Dembele though, who could be out the door in the summer transfer window if a big enough offer is accepted by the Hoops.
Dembele had an up and down season, he was dropped from the side at one stage, but he returned to form towards the end of the season and was excellent in the Scottish Cup Final win over Motherwell.
The Hoops know that clubs are interested in Dembele – they knocked back a January bid of £12million from Brighton – and that is unlikely to change in the summer.
It wouldn’t be a shock if by the time the transfer window closes, it will be Edouard and Griffiths battling it out to be the main striker for the Hoops, with Dembele on his way to a new challenge.
