Garry Monk provides update on Kyle Bartley after Leeds clash with Preston

By Harvey Byrne

Garry Monk has told supporters that star defender Kyle Bartley is okay after receiving treatment towards the end of the match on Boxing Day.

The 25-year-old centre-back was caught in an altercation with former Whites striker Jermaine Beckford, who received his marching orders with a red card.

The former Elland Road hitman lasted just three minutes on the pitch, before his boot met Bartley’s face, which the referee deemed a sending off offence.

The centre-back battled on after receiving treatment on the pitch and finished the match and manager Garry Monk has confirmed in his post match interview that the defender is alright.

The news will be come as a brilliant update to Leeds fans, as the defender is a vital part of the Yorkshire giants’ back four.

The centre-back made the switch from Swansea to Elland Road in the summer on a season-long loan deal.

Many are hoping that the club are able to tie the former England Under-17 international up on a permanent basis.

However, the team’s focus right now will be on helping their side pick up all three points in Thursday’s Championship clash against Aston Villa.
