Garry Monk sends Twitter message to Leeds fans ahead of Preston clash

By Will Butcher

Garry Monk is determined for his Leeds side to give their all against Preston on Saturday and put a run of two successive defeats behind them.

The Yorkshire giants have lost their last two matches against play-off rivals Reading and Dean Smith’s Brentford, failing to score in both matches.

Posting on his personal Twitter account, former Swansea boss Monk called for his side to “deliver a strong performance” against Preston in order to reignite their momentum.

Leeds suffered a 2-0 loss at Griffin Park on Tuesday night, leaving them in fifth and only five points above seventh-placed Fulham.

Preston come into the game without losing in five games, picking up two wins against Bristol City and Reading as well as three draws.

The Whites will be hoping for a repeat of the reverse fixture at Deepdale, which saw the former Champions League side win 4-1 thanks to goals from Pablo Hernandez, Hadi Sacko, Souleymane Doukara and Kemar Roofe.

Three points for Monk’s side will see them consolidate their place in the top six of the Championship with six games to go, moving one point away from Reading if the Royals lose away to Norwich.

In other Leeds news, Simon Grayson has criticised this aspect of his former side.
