Gary Lineker has made the huge claim that Tottenham will win this season's Premier League title.

The broadcaster, pundit and former Spurs striker took to Twitter to make the prediction during the side's landmark win over Manchester City on Sunday.

Mauricio Pochettino's side convincingly beat the title favourites and league leaders 2-0 at White Hart Lane to deliver a huge statement in the title race.

A Dele Alli strike and an Aleksandar Kolarov own goal enabled Spurs to brush off a second-half controversy in which Erik Lamela missed a penalty after clashing with Heung-Son Min over who should take it.

Lineker revealed on his personal Twitter account on Sunday that Tottenham were his "tip for the Premier League title", although he conceded that it was "a little early to feel smug" about his choice.

Spurs' win over City lifted them back to second in the Premier League and enable them to reduce the gap to the pacesetters to a single point.

Pochettino's youthful team are now the only unbeaten side in the English top flight after accumulating 17 points from their opening seven league matches.
