Gary Mabbutt makes bold Tottenham claim about 20-year-old
By Dominic Toner
Gary Mabbutt believes that Tottenham ace Dele Alli is potentially one of the best in the Premier League.
The former Spurs defender has made the bold statement that the 20-year-old can be one of the best players in the division.
Alli has enjoyed a meteoric rise since he moved to White Hart Lane from MK Dons and is now a regular in Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
He has also made the step up to England’s senior side and is regarded as one of the best young players in Europe.
Mabbutt feels that Alli has the ability to compete alongside anyone in the league and his ability means he will be targeted by defenders.

“Dele has to realise is that potentially he’s one of the best players in the Premier League, ability-wise,” Mabbutt told website Football London. “Every single time he plays he’s going to be marked very tightly, he’s going to be pushed and pulled and fouled.”
Alli is aiding Spurs’ bid for a second consecutive finish in the top four and will be keen to get the north London club back in Europe next season, following their dismal exit this campaign.
The attacking midfielder has made 36 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring 14 goals and supplying six assists.
He picked up the PFA Young Player of the Year award last season and Mabbutt suggests he is close to competing for the main award.
In other Tottenham news, Danny Murphy claims they are missing this kind of player.
