Tottenham have enjoyed their time at Wembley this season, by and large, but it was a crazy final game today and Spurs fans were not happy with the display of Eric Dier at centre-back.

He was only playing at the back after a freak injury before kick-off.

Needing a victory to secure third place in the league, Spurs lost Jan Vertonghen in the warm-up and then proceeded to concede three goals to Leicester.

The visitors had nothing but pride to play for but you wouldn’t have known it as they came bursting out of the blocks and scored in the fourth minute, with Kyle Walker-Peters to blame.

A goal from Harry Kane brought the home side level but not for long, as first Riyad Mahrez and then Kelechi Iheanacho put Leicester two goals up at the start of the second half.

Two goals from Erik Lamela (okay, one was given as a Christian Fuchs own goal, but we’re feeling charitable) put Tottenham level on the day, but they needed a win to secure third place with Liverpool beating Brighton easily.

Lamela then went on to complete his hat-trick, with Walker-Peters making up for his defensive lapses with two assists, to make it 4-3 and leave Spurs fans signing in the sunshine… Until Vardy scored his second to level the tie.

That meant that Liverpool leap-frogged them into third but it was Kane who had the final word at Wembley to make the final score 5-4.

Dier didn’t have a good time, although to be fair it’s Pochettino’s choice to play him at centre-back and not in midfield.

Here are the best reactions from Spurs fans to Dier’s stand-in display at the back:
